How RoboWear works (read this first)
RoboWear is a vendor-fulfilled marketplace for apparel and accessories made for robots (humanoid robots such as Tesla Optimus, Unitree G1, and 1X NEO, and robot vacuums). Independent vendors list and physically make and ship the products. RoboWear operates the storefront, the 3D try-on studio, and checkout.
- The Platform owns: the storefront, the 3D studio, pricing presentation, payment processing (Stripe), sales-tax collection and remittance, and dispute mediation.
- The Vendor owns: production, materials, sizing, quality, packaging, shipping, and all intellectual-property warranties for what they make.
RoboWear is the merchant of record and acts as a marketplace facilitator: we collect and remit applicable sales tax, and we process all payments. Vendors are paid through Stripe Connect Express and complete their own identity verification (KYC) directly with Stripe.
House products (the entire catalog at launch). Products listed under the RoboWear name are sold by RoboWear itself, not by a third-party vendor — RoboWear is your counterparty and handles returns, defects, and support directly (see Terms §1.5). Every house product is made to order for a specific robot model and size, so the change-of-mind carve-out in §1.7 is the rule for house goods, not an exception: you are fully covered for defects, damage, and not-as-described for 30 days from delivery, and change-of-mind returns are not available. A brief try-on to check fit never voids that coverage.
Because items are made to order, returns work differently than a single-warehouse retailer. This policy sets a Platform default, and individual vendors may offer more generous terms on their listings. A vendor may never offer terms less protective than this default, and where a conflict exists the more buyer-protective term controls.
Part 1 — Returns & Refunds Policy
1.1 The default return policy
Unless a vendor's listing clearly states a more generous policy, the following Platform default applies to every order:
| Item | Default |
|---|---|
| Return window | 30 calendar days from the date the carrier marks the order delivered. |
| Condition required | Unused, unworn (not mounted/worn on a robot beyond a brief try-on), with all tags, fasteners, and original packaging intact. |
| Made-to-order / custom items | Generally non-returnable for change-of-mind (see §1.7). Still fully covered for defects, damage, or not-as-described. |
| Who pays return shipping | Depends on the reason — see §1.4. |
| Refund method | Original payment method via Stripe (see §1.5). |
| Restocking fee | None on Platform-default returns. A vendor may not charge a restocking fee on at-fault returns; any change-of-mind restocking fee must be disclosed on the listing and may not exceed 30%. |
Where to find a vendor's specific policy: Every product page shows the vendor's return terms in the "Returns & Sizing" section. If a listing is silent, the Platform default above governs.
1.2 Two categories of returns
We treat returns in two buckets, because they determine who pays and whether the item is even returnable:
- At-fault returns (the vendor's or Platform's fault): the item arrived damaged, defective, not as described, the wrong item, or never arrived.
- Change-of-mind returns (no one is at fault): you ordered correctly and the item is as described, but you no longer want it, ordered the wrong size, or changed your mind.
1.3 How to start a return
- Go to Account → Orders → [order] → Request a return.
- Choose a reason (this routes the request correctly) and upload photos if the item is damaged, defective, or not as described.
- You'll receive a return decision and, where applicable, a prepaid or self-pay shipping label, normally within a few business days.
- Do not ship anything back until the return is approved and you have a return address / RMA. Items shipped back without authorization may not be refundable and may be lost.
All return requests are submitted through RoboWear, not directly to the vendor, so the Platform can mediate if needed.
1.4 Who pays return shipping
| Reason for return | Who pays return shipping | Who pays the original (outbound) shipping |
|---|---|---|
| Damaged in transit | Vendor (prepaid label provided) | Refunded to buyer |
| Defective / faulty workmanship | Vendor | Refunded to buyer |
| Not as described / wrong item sent | Vendor | Refunded to buyer |
| Never delivered / lost in transit | Vendor (no return needed) | Refunded to buyer |
| Change of mind / wrong size ordered by buyer / no longer wanted | Buyer | Not refunded |
For change-of-mind returns, the original outbound shipping cost and the return shipping cost are borne by the buyer; only the product price (less any disclosed restocking fee) is refunded.
1.5 Refund mechanics (Stripe) and vendor payout claw-back
- All refunds are issued by RoboWear through Stripe to your original payment method. We do not issue cash, check, or third-party transfers.
- Refunds include sales tax on the refunded amount, which RoboWear adjusts in its tax remittance.
- Refunds normally appear within 5–10 business days after we approve the return (or after we receive the returned item, where a physical return is required), depending on your bank or card issuer.
- Payout claw-back from the vendor: When a refund is issued for an order whose proceeds were already paid out to the vendor via Stripe Connect, RoboWear will recover the refunded amount (and any associated fees) from the vendor — by reversing the Connect transfer, debiting the vendor's connected Stripe balance, deducting from future payouts, or invoicing the vendor where the balance is insufficient. By listing on RoboWear, vendors authorize these recoveries. The buyer's refund is never contingent on RoboWear successfully recovering funds from the vendor.
- Partial refunds may be offered (and accepted by the buyer) as an alternative to a full return — for example, a discount to keep a minor-defect item rather than ship it back.
1.6 Damaged, defective, or not-as-described items
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the listing (wrong color, size, materials, or robot-fit than described, or a different product):
- File the request within the 30-day return window (or, for a suspected-fraud or never-arrived case, as soon as you notice the problem) with photos.
- You will not pay return shipping, and you are entitled to a replacement or a full refund (including original shipping), at your choice where a replacement is available.
- "Not as described" is judged against the vendor's listing and product photos, not the 3D studio preview. The 3D try-on is an approximate visualization to help you gauge fit and look — it is not a guarantee of exact appearance, color, scale, or fit on your specific robot. See the studio disclaimer on each product page.
1.7 Made-to-order, custom, and personalized items
Many RoboWear products are made to order for a specific robot model/size, or personalized (custom text, colors, embroidery, fit-to-your-unit). Because these can't be resold:
- Custom/personalized/made-to-order items are non-returnable for change of mind and final sale, provided the listing clearly and conspicuously marked the item as custom/made-to-order before purchase.
- These items are always still covered for defects, damage, errors by the vendor (e.g., they embroidered the wrong text they were given), or not-as-described — see §1.6.
- If a listing did not clearly disclose that an item is custom/final-sale before purchase, the standard 30-day default return applies.
1.8 Dispute mediation
If you and a vendor disagree about a return, refund, or item condition, RoboWear mediates. Submit evidence (photos, messages, listing screenshots) via Account → Orders → [order] → Open a case (RoboWear Buyer Protection), or contact [email protected] (or use the contact form, which lands in our queue directly). RoboWear's mediation decision is intended to be a fair resolution between buyer and vendor; it does not waive any rights you may have under your card issuer's chargeback process or applicable law.
1.9 Order cancellations
- Before a vendor begins production/fulfillment: you may request cancellation for a full refund.
- After production has begun on a made-to-order item: cancellation may not be possible, or may be subject to the vendor's disclosed terms.
- To cancel, contact [email protected] — or use the contact form — as soon as possible with your order number.
1.10 Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under applicable law (for example, statutory warranty or consumer-protection rights in your state or country). Where the law gives you greater protection than this policy, the law controls.
Part 2 — Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy
This section applies to vendors. Listing or shipping a prohibited item is a serious violation and may result in immediate listing removal, payout holds, and account termination — and, for unlawful items, referral to authorities. Buyers who encounter a prohibited listing should report it via [email protected] or the "Report this listing" link.
RoboWear is a marketplace for apparel and accessories made for robots. Anything outside that purpose, and anything in the categories below, is prohibited.
2.1 Weapons and functional dangerous goods
Prohibited:
- Functional weapons of any kind, or weapon parts, including anything designed to fire, launch, cut, stab, shock, or strike — whether mounted on a robot or not.
- Robot accessories or "apparel" that integrate or conceal a weapon, blade, projectile, or incapacitating device.
- Items marketed to weaponize, arm, or enable a robot to harm people, animals, or property.
- Replicas that are not clearly and obviously non-functional costume props, and any item lacking required safety/legal markings.
2.2 Counterfeit, infringing, and unauthorized-logo items
Prohibited:
- Counterfeit goods or items bearing counterfeit trademarks.
- Items that infringe any third party's intellectual property (trademark, copyright, patent, trade dress, design rights).
- Unauthorized use of robot-maker brands and logos — you may not apply, reproduce, or sell items bearing the logos, wordmarks, or protected trade dress of Tesla, Optimus, Unitree, 1X, NEO, iRobot/Roomba, or any other manufacturer as if they were official, licensed, or endorsed merchandise.
- See §2.6 for the difference between prohibited brand misuse and permitted "compatible with" references.
RoboWear honors DMCA / 17 U.S.C. § 512 safe-harbor procedures: we maintain a designated agent, process takedown notices and counter-notices, and terminate repeat infringers. See the separate DMCA & IP Policy for the full notice-and-takedown procedure and designated-agent contact.
2.3 Hazardous materials and unsafe goods
Prohibited:
- Flammable, explosive, corrosive, radioactive, or toxic materials; pressurized/aerosol goods; and other regulated hazardous materials (hazmat) that cannot be lawfully sold or shipped to consumers.
- Items that present a fire, shock, chemical, or burn hazard in normal use (e.g., uncertified high-voltage components, untested batteries/power cells, materials that ignite or release toxic fumes).
- Products that interfere with a robot's safety systems, sensors, braking, e-stops, or thermal management in a way that creates a danger.
- Items requiring a license, certification, or safety marking the vendor does not have.
2.4 Items implying robot-maker endorsement or affiliation
Prohibited — listings, titles, images, packaging, or descriptions that falsely imply a product is:
- Official, licensed, certified, approved, endorsed by, or affiliated with Tesla, Unitree, 1X, iRobot, or any robot manufacturer; or
- Sold by or in partnership with any such manufacturer.
This includes using a maker's logo as a primary listing image, names like "Official Optimus Gear," or claims of "OEM-approved" or "factory-certified" without a genuine, documented license. Permitted compatibility language is described in §2.6.
2.5 Adult, illegal, and other prohibited categories
Prohibited:
- Adult / sexually explicit items or content.
- Anything illegal to sell or ship under applicable U.S. federal, state, or local law, or the buyer's jurisdiction.
- Drugs, drug paraphernalia, tobacco/vaping, and controlled substances.
- Stolen goods; items subject to recall; goods that violate export controls or sanctions.
- Hate-promoting, violence-promoting, or harassing items.
- Surveillance/spyware accessories designed to covertly capture audio, video, or data without consent.
- Live animals, human remains, or regulated biological materials.
- Any item that, in RoboWear's reasonable judgment, undermines the safety, legality, or purpose of the marketplace.
2.6 Trademark posture — "compatible with," not "endorsed by" (nominative fair use)
RoboWear sells third-party, independent products made for popular robots. Vendors may truthfully describe what their product fits, using nominative fair use — referring to a brand name only as needed to identify compatibility — provided the listing does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
Allowed (truthful compatibility references):
- "Made for Tesla Optimus" / "Fits Unitree G1" / "Designed for the 1X NEO" / "Compatible with Roomba."
- Plain-text use of the robot's name only as needed to identify the model it fits.
Not allowed:
- Using a manufacturer's logo, stylized wordmark, or trade dress.
- Implying the product is official, licensed, endorsed, or affiliated (see §2.4).
- Using a brand name more prominently than your own, or in a way that suggests the manufacturer is the source.
Required disclaimer. Listings that reference a robot brand must carry, and the storefront will display, the following:
"[Product] is an independent product made by [Vendor]. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by [Tesla/Unitree/1X/iRobot/etc.]. [Robot brand] and related names are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe compatibility."
2.7 Vendor responsibility and warranties
By listing on RoboWear, each vendor represents and warrants that:
- They have the right to make and sell every item, and that it does not infringe any third party's intellectual property.
- Their items are safe, lawful, and accurately described, and comply with all applicable laws, safety standards, and shipping regulations.
- They will indemnify RoboWear against claims arising from their products, IP, production, or shipping, as set out in the Vendor Agreement.
RoboWear may remove any listing, withhold or claw back payouts, and suspend or terminate any account that violates this policy, with or without notice where required for safety or legal compliance.
2.8 Reporting and enforcement
- Report a listing: "Report this listing" on any product page, or email [email protected].
- IP / DMCA notices: see the DMCA & IP Policy and the designated agent contact therein.
- RoboWear operates a repeat-infringer policy and will terminate vendors who repeatedly violate IP or prohibited-item rules.

Information you submit in a return, dispute, or report (including photos and messages) is handled under the RoboWear Privacy Policy, including rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA and other applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
